Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

LekkerSlips is a South African mobile application designed to help small business owners manage payslips, invoices, quotes, leave, and SARS tax calculations.

When this policy refers to "LekkerSlips", "we", "us" or "our", it means the operator of the LekkerSlips application. We are the responsible party for your personal information as defined under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

2. What information we collect

2.1 Account information

When you create an account, we collect your:

Full name and email address
Password (stored in encrypted form — we never see your plain-text password)

2.2 Business and operational data you enter

LekkerSlips stores the data you choose to enter, which may include:

Business details: company name, registration number, tax number, VAT number, address, banking details, and logo
Employee information: names, ID numbers, job titles, salaries, banking details, UIF numbers, and tax numbers
Customer and supplier details: company names, contact persons, email addresses, and addresses
Financial documents: payslips, invoices, quotes, and their associated line items and amounts
Leave records: leave types, dates, and balances

This data belongs to you. We process it only to provide the service.

2.3 Usage and technical data

We may collect limited technical information to keep the app functioning, including:

Device type and operating system version
App crash reports and error logs (anonymised)
In-app purchase status (via RevenueCat — see Section 4)

2.4 Information we do not collect

We do not collect your location, contacts, camera, microphone, or any other device data beyond what is explicitly needed to operate the app.

3. How we use your information

We use your information solely to provide and improve LekkerSlips. Specifically:

To create and manage your account
To store and retrieve your business documents across devices
To generate payslip, invoice, and quote PDFs
To calculate PAYE tax and UIF contributions
To process your subscription payment and manage your plan
To send transactional emails (e.g. password resets) — we do not send marketing emails without your explicit consent
To diagnose and fix technical issues

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose not listed here.

4. How we share your information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only with the following sub-processors who are necessary to operate the service:

Supabase (Database and authentication)

Your account credentials and all app data are stored on Supabase infrastructure. Supabase is SOC 2 Type II certified and processes data in accordance with GDPR. Supabase Privacy Policy →

RevenueCat (Subscription management)

If you subscribe to LekkerSlips Premium, your purchase is processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. RevenueCat manages subscription status and entitlements. RevenueCat does not receive your payment card details. RevenueCat Privacy Policy →

Apple / Google

Payment transactions are handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) according to their own privacy policies. LekkerSlips does not process or store payment card information.

Legal requirements

We may disclose your information if required to do so by South African law, a court order, or a lawful government request.

5. Data storage and security

Your data is stored on Supabase servers with the following protections in place:

Encryption in transit: All communication between the app and our servers uses TLS (HTTPS)
Encryption at rest: Your data is encrypted on disk
Row-Level Security: Database access controls ensure you can only access your own data — no other LekkerSlips user can read your records
Authenticated access only: All data operations require a valid, authenticated session

Despite these measures, no system is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your LekkerSlips account.

6. How long we keep your data

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account:

All your businesses, employees, payslips, invoices, quotes, and contact records are permanently deleted
Your account credentials are removed from our authentication system
Deletion is irreversible — we do not keep backups of deleted user data beyond our standard 7-day database backup window

You can delete your account at any time from the app drawer (menu) → Delete Account.

7. Your rights under POPIA

As a South African resident, you have the following rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA):

Right to access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
Right to correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information
Right to deletion: Request that we delete your personal information (you can also do this directly in the app)
Right to object: Object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances
Right to lodge a complaint: If you believe we have violated your privacy rights, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@lekkerslips.co.za. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Children's privacy

LekkerSlips is intended for use by adults running or managing a business. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we will promptly delete the account.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by:

Updating the "Effective date" at the top of this page, and
Displaying an in-app notification on your next login

Continued use of LekkerSlips after a policy change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
